The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE, said it had embarked on vigorous campaigns to save lives and property during the Ember Months.
Mr Seni Ogunyemi, the Corps Commander of TRACE, who disclosed this to newsmen in Ota on Thursday, said that such campaigns would reduce the rising cases of road accidents in the state.
Ogunyemi charged all the Corps’ Units and Commands to embark on massive awareness campaign to educate the public on the need to curb incessant road crashes.
“The intensive campaigns would include distribution of flyers as well as embracing community-based traffic information on safety.
“We are also going to primary and secondary schools to train teachers so that they can translate such safety knowledge to their students,’’ he said.
The commander said that the idea of “catching them young would make our roads safer in the future by reducing road crashes”.
He said that the agency would also collaborate with sister organisations to ensure safety on the highways during the period. (NAN)
