Management of Federal Polytechnic, Oko , Prevents Media Houses and Regulatory Bodies From Visiting The Site Of A Collapsed 2-Storey Building. It was a big surprise yesterday, 18th June 2016 at the Federal polytechnic Oko as the Management of the institution made desperate efforts to prevent the students and staff of the polytechnic from visiting the site of a construction project that collapsed in the institution the previous night. It is being suspected that two people must have died as a result of the building collapse. All lectures, examinations and other administrative works were stopped at the extension site of the polytechnic where the building collapse took place. The Anambra State Urban Development Board ( ASUDEB) , the government building regulatory body was also bared by fierce gun carrying young men. Not even the news crew of the Anambra Broadcasting Service ( ABS) was allowed to visit the scene of the collapse. The project has however been identified as the Public Administration Building which is sponsored with TETFUND and being handled by TRANSOASIS NIG. LTD. It has also been discovered that the process of the award of the contract and the company along side five other companies are being investigated by the ICPC. This investigation may not be unconnected with the desperate efforts to conceal the structural failure. It will therefore be a matter of urgency for the relevant government and other regulatory bodies to go to the site for an on the spot investigation and report. A stitch in time saves nine.
