Visiting Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin on Sunday held Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna to a 1-1 draw in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 21 fixture.
Newsmen reports that Segun Alebiosu scored for the visitors 25 minutes into the first half of the match played at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium in Minna.
Henry Frimpong drew Niger Tornadoes level 18 minutes into the second half.
Coach Abubakar Bala of Kwara United, who is a former Niger Tornadoes coach, later said he was in Minna to secure the maximum three points for the club.
He however said it was unfortunate that they could only get a draw.
“Anyway I am happy with the draw because my boys put in their best,’’ the coach said.
Also, coach Hamza Abara of Niger Tornadoes acknowledged that Kwara United was a tough side, adding however that with determination they could be defeated.
“In football, it is difficult for you to be a champion and also difficult for you to remain a champion.
“Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose,’’ he said.
