A 25-year-old man, Seun Alade, was on Monday charged before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing valuables worth N75,000.
Alade, whose address is unknown, is facing a three-count charge of stealing, conspiracy and burglary.
The accused, according to Police Prosecutor Chudu Gbesi, committed the offences with others still at large on April 1 at 4.40 p.m. at Fan Milk Company, Ota.
Gbesi alleged that the accused broke into the house of the complainant, Monday Ofoke, and stole a Techno phone valued at N25,000 and other valuables worth N75,000
The offences contravened Sections 383(1), (2), 423 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006. The accused, however, denied the charges.
In his ruling, the Senior Magistrate, Mr G. E. Akan, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed. In addition, the sureties should show evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until April 11 for definite hearing.
