Group to Tinubu: Let Oyo People Choose Their Leaders

A sociopolitical group, Egbe Isokan Oyo, (Oyo Unity Group) has urged former Lagos State governor and a leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to allow the people of Oyo to elect their governor without the desperation to scuttle their will with Inducement.

A statement by the publicity secretary of the association, Mr. Sunday Oluwole on Wednesday said Tinubu needs to come out clean on the motive behind his massive political investment in Oyo state.

“What does Tinubu stands to gain in deploying overwhelming resources to induce electorate in the state; is he saying he loves the Oyo people more than the love themselves?

“Report at our disposal disclosed that Tinubu made a staggering N500 million promise to the Unity Forum just to support the APC candidate on Saturday, aside from the N25m parting gift reportedly given to them after their encounter with him at a meeting at his Bourdillon residence in Lagos. What does he want?

Oluwole said he was worried that the same Tinubu who could not deploy the same resources to intervene when students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso were shut out of school is the one spending this much for elections.

“There is no doubt that when a people sell out their conscience to political investors, they would wait endlessly for development and good governance to reach them.

“Voters must know themselves that their future and that of their children can only be guaranteed when elected leaders are not indebted with burden to payback through contracts, influenced appointments, downsized workforce and outright loss of the state purse to godfathers,” he warned.
