Celebratory mood ahead of Ruto’s swearing in

Kenyans who have filled the 60,000 capacity stadium ahead of William Ruto’s swearing in are in a celebratory mood.

Entertainers have been singing in the stadium as dignitaries arrive to loud cheers.

Those in attendance have dressed up for the day – with some choosing to wear Mr Ruto’s dominant party colour of yellow.

The BBC’s Emmanuel Igunza has shared photos of Kenyans attending the event.

The swearing in ceremony is due to start any minute now with most guests seated awaiting the president-elect and the deputy president-elect.
