Cleric urge government to tackle youth unemployment

A cleric, Pastor Ebenezer Opeyemi of Prayer Temple, Tanke, Ilorin has appealed to government at all levels to urgently tackle the rising unemployment rate among youths to stem crime in the country.
Opeyemi, who made the appeal during an interview on Thursday in Ilorin, also urged the government to establish industries to employ the teeming unemployed youths.
‘’There are hundreds of youths graduating yearly from higher institutions in the country without jobs.
“Government should establish more industries in order to get unemployed youths engaged and reduce the rate of crime in the country.
“If youths are not employed, there is the tendency for them to take to crime and even be lured into thuggery during elections,” Opeyemi said.
The cleric also advised unemployed graduates to be creative and trust in God so that politicians would not employ them to perpetuate evil.
According to him, Nigeria has sufficient resources, human and natural, to establish many industries that would accommodate large number of youths.
He said that all that was needed was the political will to make it a reality.
