Duo allegedly conspire, steal motorcycle, remanded in prison

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded Dolapo Taiwo,20, and Temitope Oladimeji, 22, in Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, pending the receipt of advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The accused, who both live in Ikotun area of Lagos, are charged with conspiracy and stealing, before Magistrate Jadesola Adeyemi-Ajayi .

Adeyemi-Ajayi , who gave the ruling, said the case file should be duplicated and a copy sent to the DPP for advice.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Raji Akeem, told the court that the accused committed the offences with others still at large on July 28, at Custom area of Ikotun, Lagos.

The prosecutor said that the duo, with others, trespassed into the compound of Mr Olayinka Yusuf, the complainant, and stole the motorcycle, worth N225,000.

He said that the motorcycle was said to have been parked within the compound of the complainant.

“When the complainant discovered that his motorcycle had been stolen, he reported the matter to the police, and days after, the accused were arrested with the motorcycle,” he said.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The plea of the accused was not taken. The magistrate adjourned the case until Oct. 23.
